Entries for the 2008 Snowy are now open.

This is the Snowy's 21st year to help celebrate this Global Surf Industries and the Manly Mal Club are working on making it one to remember with events on all three nights of the long weekend.
This year there are 12 divisions including 2 Stand Up Paddles events and Tandem Surfing. Returning as the present sponsor is Global Surf Industries who very excited to be part of the Winter Surfing Festival to be held in Manly over the June Long weekend for the second year in a row.

Mark Kelly, Managing Director of Manly based Global Surf Industries said "From what I have read and people I have talked to  who knew Snowy makes me feel that Snowy was one of Australia's first waterman. It is great to see the club open to having a wider range of surfing on display with the two Stand Up events and the Tandem surfing. It will help make the event a true
celebration of joy surfing bring to us. Life is better when you surf and that will be well and truly on display over the June long weekend.

Presidents Report

Sorry I haven’t done any reports lately but I have been tied up with organising the up coming C J “Snowy” McAlister Winter Surfing Festival. This again will be during the Queens birthday long weekend, starting on the 7th, 8th and 9th of June. I will expect all members to go in the contest as well as help “run” the contest, by helping in the food tent, set up and pull down tents all three days. The more hands doing these jobs makes it easier, quicker and more enjoyable to all. “So please, do as much as you can”.
This year, we have added three new events. The SUP event and a SUP paddle race to the Bower and back, and as well a Tandem event. These events will bring a lot more media attention as well as spectators from the wider community. This in turn will make the MMBC more bankable in relation to sponsorship etc.
Last weekend was the “Magoo” contest up at Soldiers Beach. We only had a small number of Manly competitors up there, but all of them made their respective finals. Adam Albertini was up there as well, taking lots of photos and getting sunburnt standing on the beach all day. The surf was a good 3 to 4ft, with an occasional bomb coming through, but as usual by finals time, the on-shore came through and stuffed it all up and made it very unpleasant.
Results:
Vivienne Creswell 6th Ladies
Jackson Wright 3rd U16
Kenny Gray 4th 055
Lynden Riley 2nd 055
On the 3rd and 4th of May, The Reef Riders will be holding their annual contest on, so if you don’t have an entry in, you better do it quickly. Entries can be downloaded off our MMBC site, or ring Steve Beaumont on 0409658958.
Last but not least, don’t forget that the Manly club competition day has been postponed until the 11th of May, due to The Reef Riders contest on the week before and also some of the “committee” who shall remain nameless, will be over at the “Maldives” doing some home-work!!!!

Point score for 2008
The MMBC commitee have decided to move the 5 points attendance allocation to the second round for the 2008 comp. So what this means is that your need to surf your second round to achieve the bonus attendance of the 5 points. The "double points" for the December knock out comp this year remains as is.

Got a board to sell? I can list it on our website.
Whether its a short board or a long board, need to sell it....List it here. Just email the club the details.

MMBC ".On the nose newsletter" (RAW) Sunday October 14.
Hey Members - I need your help - I want to start up our club newsletter again, as we have not published one since last year, and we used to do at least 4 or 5 a year. Now I need any information about a club member, such as a birthday bash and new born or you've won a date with Miss Thailand and couldn't get passed the "Adams apple". Any news is good news. Like Cam Grey has his "in the van with cam" I shall introduce a members profile, so be warned but not afraid.....

MMBC Members update email address required (RAW) Monday October 15.
I need your email address to update the clubs records, just in case its changed - email the club with your name, and I shall up date our records. So when future club news / newsletters / other club competitions arrive, we shall email you with the latest news. "free of cost"......

Judging" (RAW) Sunday October 15.
We are looking into having a "judging leaner / refresher course" next year - we have  some idea's on hand and are obtaining as much information to help in this area. As lately we have had some complaints about the judging and the criteria of what is to be judge. Stay tuned.

Any emails of your thoughts or comments / idea's will be held in the strict of confidence. mmbc@mmbc.info

Happy days,
RAW
